In Loving Memory of Timothy Ernesto Martinez Resler
October 22, 1994 – August 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Ernesto Martinez Resler, lovingly known as Timmy, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 31.
Timmy will be remembered as a son, father, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, but there was so much more to the person behind those titles. He was intelligent, athletic, adventurous, funny, and naturally entertaining. He had an unforgettable smile and laugh and a way of joking around and making people smile, even in unexpected situations. He loved dancing, singing, spending time with others, and, without a doubt, he loved his food. Buffets were a favorite because, in true Timmy fashion, he didn't have to wait—the food was already ready.
From an early age, it was clear how bright Timmy was. In second and third grade, he earned the nickname "The Count" because of how gifted he was in mathematics. He also earned awards in spelling and geography and had an incredible sense of direction.
Timmy was also a gifted athlete. In 2006, he played Metro football and had an incredible season, recording 99 quarterback sacks. Those who watched him play knew just how talented and determined he could be on the field.
His childhood was filled with experiences and adventures. Timmy traveled to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, where he had the opportunity to ride horses, as well as North Carolina, Chicago, El Paso, Wisconsin, and many other places. He enjoyed amusement parks, zoos, square dances, plane rides, and simply being included in whatever adventure came next.
Some of the sweetest memories of Timmy came from ordinary moments. As a young boy, he helped volunteer at a zoo, cutting strapping tape to help wrap wire reindeer with Christmas lights and later helping pick up sticks in the spring. During one special visit, he was treated to a personal tour of the zoo, learned about the animals, rode around in a cart, and even had the chance to interact with a capuchin monkey. These are the kinds of memories that remind us of the curious, energetic little boy Timmy once was.
He also enjoyed spending time with international students from Ball State University who became part of his extended circle through a friendship-family program. Timmy enjoyed joining in their activities, meeting new people, and being part of experiences that introduced him to different people and places.
Timmy had a big personality and a mischievous sense of humor. On one flight, he struck up a conversation with a stranger seated nearby and decided to tell him all about his traveling companion's dating life, even attempting to play matchmaker. That was Timmy—comfortable talking to people, joking around, and finding a way to make an ordinary moment memorable.
Life did not always follow an easy road for Timmy, and he faced struggles as he grew older. But those struggles are only one chapter of his story. They do not erase the intelligent little boy called "The Count," the talented football player, the traveler, the jokester, the dancer, the singer, the father, or the young man whose smile and laughter brought happiness to those around him.
Above all, Timmy was loved.
He leaves behind his two sons, who will forever carry a part of their father with them. We hope that as they grow older, these stories will help them know their dad not only through the difficult chapters of his life, but through the stories of the funny, intelligent, athletic, adventurous young man he was—the boy who traveled, played football, loved animals, loved food, made people laugh, and had a smile that could light up a room.
We take comfort in our faith and pray that Timmy has finally found peace. We believe he has been welcomed home into God's loving arms and reunited with his dad and his Tata Foggy, who went before him.
May we remember Timothy with compassion and grace. May we tell his stories, laugh at the funny memories, cherish the good ones, and make sure his boys always know that their father was much more than the struggles he faced.
Rest peacefully, Timmy.
May your smile be just as big in Heaven. 🕊️🤍
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Never forgotten.
