Theodore "Ted" R. Ybarra, 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years: Mary F. Ybarra; son: Daniel Figueroa (Sonia) and daughter: Christina Ybarra Gonzales; brother: Gilbert Ybarra; sisters: Diane Jimenez and Rosalie Acereto; grandchildren, Nicole, Maya, Christian and Donminik and great-grandchildren, Alani and Aleia. He was preceded in death by his grandson: Daniel, Jr.; brother: Arnold Rojas; and brother in law: Edward R. Valencia.
Ted was born in Tucson on October 29, 1952 to Refugio ‘Cuca’ and Gilbert Ybarra. During his high school years he played baseball and earned all-conference second team his senior year. He graduated High School from Sahuarita in 1972. He was drafted into the Army right out of high school, and received the National Defense Service medal in Marksmanship (Rifle). Shortly After, he went to school to get a Bachelors of Art degree. He then married Mary Valencia in 1976 and settled with his family in Tumacacori, later settling in Tubac, Arizona. Ted worked for Santa Cruz County to retire (but not really) after about 35 years.
Ted was a busy man who always wanted to help those in need. He played his guitar and ministered to the homeless men at the Gospel Rescue Mission, and the Salvation Army, every other weekend, in Tucson, Arizona. He also played worship music for his place of worship, The River Church, where he was a member for 17 years. He was a God fearing man who loved his family, his church family, friends, and strangers he met along his way.
Theodore was a very special man who touched the hearts of everyone he was around. He will be remembered greatly and forever missed by all who knew of him.
