Remembering Thema Duarte Ruiz, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Thelma Duarte Ruiz. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on the morning of May 23, 2026.  Born in Tucson, Arizona  on January 23, 1941, Thelma live a life filled with love, Strength, devotion, and lasting connections.  From an early age, Thelma was a bright spark in her community. she attended both Tucson High and Pueblo High School, where her gifted mind, vibrant personality and natural charm helped her shine. Later in life, she built a career in telemarketing where her warmth and charisma left a lasting impression on many. Thelma's striking beauty caught the eye of a handsome young man, Daniel Ruiz. The two were married and blessed with six children; Daniel, Denise, Anthony, Richard Tammy and Shelly Ruiz. Though life eventually led their marriage in different directions, Thelma never remarried.  She and Daniel maintained a deep and enduring friendship that lasted until his passing  She often expressed her gratitude, saying "Thank you for being one of my best friends".  For 43 years Thelma found profound companionship and unwavering devotion alongside Robert Carrillo who stood by her side as a dedicated companionship and steadfast friend and caretaker.  Thelma's legacy lives through her siblings; Mona, Elda, Evelyne and Gilbert. She was a proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren. Celeste her great-granddaughter loved teasing her great-grandmother, sneaking goodies from her and "travesuras"  which always brought laughter and smiles to her GRANDMA. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Josephine Duarte and broother, Manuel Duarte and her beloved grandchildren, Mark Anthony Carrillo and Christopher Ruiz whom she loved dearly. Thelma also leaves behind her treasured animal companions, who brought her immense joy in daily life; Kitty Witty, Mitzi, Monkey Face, Matilda, Pepita and Sally. She will always be remembered for her strength, humor, striking green eyes and beautiful smile. Her love, warmth, presence will be deeply missed by all who new and loved her.
