Sofia Garcia Bermudez

Sofía García Bermúdez, una querida madre, abuela, bisabuela y hermana, falleció en paz el 15 de junio de 2026. Nacida el 30 de septiembre de 1940, Sofía vivió una vida marcada por la resiliencia, la compasión y una dedicación inquebrantable a su familia.

Tras enviudar a temprana edad y quedar a cargo de siete hijos pequeños, Sofía afrontó sus responsabilidades con una fortaleza y un altruismo admirables. Se convirtió en un pilar incansable para su familia, brindando amor, guía y apoyo a sus hijos y nietos. Sus hijos y nietos eran su orgullo y su mayor alegría; ellos la recuerdan como una mujer muy alegre y cariñosa, con un corazón lleno de amor.

Sofía era conocida no solo por su espíritu protector y afectuoso, sino también por el placer que encontraba al cocinar para familiares y amigos. Esta sencilla afición le permitía expresar su cariño y crear recuerdos duraderos alrededor de la mesa, fortaleciendo vínculos que trascendían generaciones.

Le sobreviven sus dedicados hijos: Eduardo B. García, María Teresa Flores, Héctor Gustavo García, Rosa Salcido, Blanca Alicia King y Juan Pedro García; así como una extensa y amorosa familia que incluye a sus nietos: Sofía Elizabeth García, Eduardo Garcia Jr., Danny Garcia, Bárbara Denise Oceguerra, Francisco Javier Flores, Natalie García Moreno, Héctor García, Jeanette García, Lizette García, Frank Gómez, Stephen Gómez, Rosalie Garcia, Michael Gómez, Brittany Nicole Thomas, Victoria Hernandez, Juan Pedro García Jr., Jessica Michelle García, Jennifer García y Jonathan García. Su legado perdura a través de sus numerosos bisnietos, sus hermanos —Francisca Jiménez, Arturo Bermúdez Osuna, Rogelio Bermúdez Osuna y María Tabárez—, así como de muchos sobrinos y amigos cercanos cuyas vidas fueron tocadas por su bondad.

Sofía fue precedida en la muerte por su amado esposo, Jesús Terezo García Muñoz, y por sus padres, Pedro Bermúdez Núñez y María Amada Osuna. El velorio se llevará a cabo el 29 de junio de 2026, de 5:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m., en Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, ubicado en 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Al día siguiente, el 30 de junio de 2026, se celebrará una misa en honor a la vida de Sofía a partir de las 11:00 a. m. en la iglesia católica Santa Cruz, situada en 1220 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Más tarde, esa misma noche a las 7:00 p. m., se rezará el Rosario nuevamente en Martinez Funeral Chapels.

Sofia Garcia Bermudez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Born on September 30, 1940, Sofia lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Widowed at a young age with seven small children to raise, Sofia faced her responsibilities with remarkable strength and selflessness. She became a hardworking pillar for her family, providing love, guidance, and support to her children and grandchildren. Her pride and greatest joy were her children and grandchildren, who remember her as a very happy and caring woman with a heart full of love.

Sofia was known not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her joy in cooking meals for family and friends. This simple hobby allowed her to express her affection and create lasting memories around the dinner table, strengthening bonds that spanned generations.

She is survived by her devoted children Eduardo B. Garcia, Maria Teresa Flores, Hector Gustavo Garcia, Rosa Salcido, Blanca Alicia King, Juan Pedro Garcia; and a large and loving extended family including her grandchildren Sofia Elizabeth Garcia, Eduardo Garcia Jr., Danny Garcia, Barbara Denise Oceguerra, Francisco Javier Flores, Natalie Garcia Moreno, Hector Garcia, Jeanette Garcia, Lizette Garcia, Frank Gomez, Stephen Gomez, Rosalie Garcia, Michael Gomez, Brittany Nicole Thomas, Victoria Hernandez, Juan Pedro Garcia Jr., Jessica Michelle Garcia, Jennifer Garcia, Jonathan Garcia. Her legacy continues through many great-grandchildren, her siblings Francisca Jimenez, Arturo Bermudez Osuna, Rogelio Bermudez Osuna, and Maria Tabarez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who were touched by her kindness.

Sofia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus Terezo Garcia Munoz, and her parents, Pedro Bermudez Nunez and Maria Amada Osuna.

A visitation will be held on June 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, located at 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. A Mass in celebration of Sofia’s life will follow the next day, on June 30, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Later that evening at 7:00 PM, a Rosary will be held back at Martinez Funeral Chapels.

Sofia Garcia Bermudez’s life was a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor to know her.
