Silas Hurts

Silas Hurts, age 89, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1935, in Evergreen, Louisiana, to Silas Hurts and Ivory Lavalais.

Silas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva Hurts. He is survived by his loving children: Janet Harrison (Natasha Harris), Karen Stewart (Von Stewart), and Patrick Hurts (Abigail Hurts). His cherished grandchildren include Louis Stewart, Brianna Riley, Brittnee Harrison, Silas Stewart, Gabriel Harrison, Ryan Stewart, Evani Hurts, and Olivia Hurts. Additionally, he is survived by his great-grandchildren: Yzamarie, Andrell, Julian, Ian, Jeremiah, Gihanna, Aaliyah, Janisa, and Jehu, as well as stepsisters Dorothy Mae Francisco and Shirley Rigmaiden (Tommy), along with a host of other family members and friends.

In 1961, Silas and Eva relocated to Tucson from Alexandria, Louisiana. Throughout his life, Silas dedicated many years to his career as a mechanic. He also had a passion for collecting and creating his own knife collection, showcasing his artistic side.

Silas was known for his kindness and loving spirit. His selflessness and devotion to his family were evident in all that he did. A man of principle, integrity, and strong moral values, Silas embraced the roles of dad, grandpa, and papa to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His family and friends cherished his warmth, sense of humor, and stories from his hometown of Cottonport, Louisiana. His presence will be deeply missed, but he will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on December 10, 2025, at Martinez Funeral Home, located at 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Viewing will take place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by interment at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705. A Celebration of Silas's life will follow at Martinez Reception Hall, featuring food and refreshments.
