Born into a world that would be forever enriched by his laughter and kindness, Roy was blessed with a spirit that was as vibrant as the many flowers he meticulously arranged for his beloved wife, Lisa.
Roy's journey in life was punctuated by extraordinary dedication to duty and a passion for nurturing those around him. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Roy devoted over two decades to this noble service, attaining the rank of E-7 Gunnery Sergeant. His military career was marked by numerous accolades, including five Meritorious Awards, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal, among others. His tenure encompassed vital contributions during Desert Storm, along with significant stints at diverse bases that spread the breadth of his experiences, from Kansas City to Korea.
After retiring donned in the esteemed colors of the Marine Corps, Roy transitioned into a fulfilling career with NOAA (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration), where he served not only as a contractor but also excelled in the role of Administrative Assistant in the office of the Director, a position he held until he retired anew in 2023. Through both professions, he exemplified tireless work ethic and an unwavering commitment to excellence, characteristics that inspired all who encountered him.
At the core of Roy's existence was an unyielding love for his family. He relished every moment spent with his wife, Lisa, their son Joshua McNeil (Kevin), and grandson Oliver McNeil. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brothers, Octavio, Joaquin, Dario, and Abran Tadeo, along with his sisters Matilda Toy, Roxanne Berrellez, and Andrea Tadeo. Roy's devotion to his mother, Rita Tadeo, further illuminated the boundless depths of his compassion and care. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Juan F. Tadeo, Sr. and his brother, Juan F. Tadeo, Jr. With his delightful sense of humor and a passion for creating joyful experiences, he brought life to family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where laughter intermingled with love.
Not merely a Marine and a professional, Roy had an artistic soul that flourished in his hobbies. He cooked with affection, tended to his many house plants, and delighted in flower arranging which were acts that spoke to his desire to create beauty and joy in his surroundings. He nurtured relationships as lovingly as he did his garden, often creating bouquets for Lisa weekly that mirrored the romance at the heart of their marital bond.
An adventurer at heart, Roy embraced travel, exploring destinations from Jamaica to Italy, each journey enhancing his distinct narrative of life. His playful spirit shone brightly during cherished outings to Boondocks with his grandson, indulging in the thrill of miniature golf and the joy of claw machines.
Roy’s enduring involvement with the Toys for Tots drive demonstrated his deep-set commitment to community service, particularly during the Christmas season, highlighting his profound appreciation for giving back. His volunteer efforts echoed a legacy of kindness that extended beyond his immediate family, touching countless lives through initiatives that were near to his heart.
As we celebrate the life and legacy of Roy, let us remember a man of extraordinary character whose love for his family, dedication to his friends, and valorous service to his country remain etched in our memories.
