Ricardo Chavez Jr.

Nogales, Arizona - Reno, Nevada

January 5, 2000 - July 15, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sergeant Ricardo Chavez Jr. on July 15, 2023, at the age of 23. Born and raised in Nogales, Arizona, Ricardo was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend whose spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ricardo's journey began on January 5, 2000, when he was welcomed into the world with great joy by his parents Miriam Molina and Ricardo Molina. From a young age, it was clear that Ricardo possessed a radiant personality that shone brightly wherever he went. His infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor never failed to bring laughter to those around him.

Graduating from Rio Rico High School in 2018 was one of Ricardo's proudest accomplishments. During his time in high school, he showcased his passion for music as a member of the Rio Rico High School Band and Jazz Band as a talented percussionist. His dedication and talent were admired by his fellow bandmates and teachers alike.

Motivated by a strong sense of duty and a desire to serve his country, Ricardo enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. He graduated from boot camp with immense pride and went on to serve his country valiantly as Sergeant Ricardo Chavez. He had two deployments under his belt, having served in Africa and Kuwait. Ricardo's unwavering commitment to protecting the nation he loved will never be forgotten.

In addition to his military service, Ricardo had various interests that brought him joy outside of duty. He had an affinity for collecting guns and enjoyed spending quality time with his uncle David while engaging in shooting activities whenever he returned home. These shared moments were cherished and added even more strength to their bond.

When Ricardo was granted leave or liberty, nothing brought him more happiness than being in the company of his family. Every minute spent with his loved ones was cherished, and he seized every opportunity to create lasting memories together. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and their bond will remain unbreakable.

Ricardo's kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His selflessness illuminated the world around him, and his legacy of compassion and giving will continue to inspire others.

In grief, we find solace in celebrating Ricardo's life. We invite friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by him to join us for the services commemorating his life. The visitation events will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales on July 30, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales on July 31, 2023, starting at 2:00 PM. Following the Mass, Military Honors will take place at the church from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM. These events provide an opportunity for us to come together and honor Ricardo's memory while finding support in one another during this difficult time.

Ricardo leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure forever. He is survived by his mother Miriam Molina, father Ricardo Molina, brother Joshua Molina, sisters Isabella Molina, Eliana Molina, and Sophia Molina. He is also fondly remembered by his maternal grandparents Jose and Mercedes Quijada as well as his paternal grandparents Carlos and Teresa Martinez. Ricardo's memory lives on in the hearts of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Sergeant Ricardo Chavez Jr. will forever be remembered as a brave and compassionate soul who brightened the lives of those around him. As we grieve this unimaginable loss, let us also celebrate the joy he brought to our lives and honor his memory by continuing to love one another just as he loved us. May he rest in eternal peace.
