Paul Delbert South III

Paul Delbert South III, born on February 2, 1974, in Tucson, Arizona, and a lifelong resident of this vibrant community, passed away on August 4, 2025. He lived a life dedicated not only to his family but also to the service of others, making a profound impact on those around him throughout his remarkable journey.

From a young age, Paul exhibited a passion for law enforcement, a calling that led him to serve in various capacities, including as an explorer, surveillance officer, probation officer, corrections officer, wildland firefighter, police officer, and security officer. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his genuine desire to be a positive influence in the lives of others. His interactions were always marked by warmth, humor, and compassion, qualities that endeared him to many. Paul’s love of food, laughter, and jovial spirit brightened even the darkest of days, and his absence leaves an immense void in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria South, and their children, Paul South IV and Icela South, who were the pride and joy of his life. His parents, Paul and Yolanda South, cherish the memories of their son, a source of unwavering love and inspiration. Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Marie Valdez, who will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them both.

As we gather to pay tribute to a life filled with purpose and love, we will honor Paul’s spirit on August 12, 2025, beginning with a Rosary, at 9:30 a.m then Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. We will then have a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, where friends and family can come together to celebrate his life and legacy.

Paul's journey may have come to a close, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he has left us too soon, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, having been called home by God.
