Ofelia J. Rivera, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Sahuarita, Arizona. Born on September 3, 1934, in Calabasas, Arizona, Ofelia dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, a role she cherished deeply.
Ofelia's early education culminated in her graduation from Nogales High School, where she began to cultivate her vibrant personality that would bring joy to many. Known as a social butterfly, she filled her days with an irresistible zest for life, never shying away from social events. She loved listening to music and was a regular viewer of Sabado Gigante, where her enjoyment of melodies transcended her legal blindness. Her spirit was brightened by the rhythm of music and the laughter shared at gatherings that she never missed.
Ofelia was infused with an abundance of love. She relished spending time with her children, reminiscing about the good old days often, and sharing stories that warmed hearts. In her passing, she leaves behind cherished memories for her children, Mary Ellen Cortez (Gilbert) and Juan Manuel Rivera (Sylvia), as well as for her grandchildren, Melissa Rivera, Destiny Ramos (Victor), Jordan Cortez, Taylor Cortez, and Jessica Cortez. Adding to her legacy are her great-grandchildren, Little Brodie Ramos, Manny Ramos, Selena Ramos, Hazel Cortez, Luis Lopez, Romeo Cortez, and Ellie Sanchez.
Ofelia is survived by her siblings, Roman Rodriguez, Yolanda Alvarez, and Mary Ann Contreras, alongside many nieces, nephews, and friends who will fondly remember her warmth and generous spirit. Although she is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husbands, Manuel Rivera and Ralph Rivera, her parents, Roman and Maria Rodriguez and grandson, Joseph Rivera, she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
The community is invited to celebrate Ofelia's life and legacy on January 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales, Arizona. A Rosary will commence at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are welcome to gather for a memorial at Wisdom's Cafe in Tumacacori-Carmen starting at 12:00 PM, where her memory will be honored and celebrated.
Ofelia J. Rivera's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that knows no bounds.
