Maria Dolores Ramirez

April 12, 1935 — August 8, 2025

Maria Dolores "Lolita" Ramirez, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 8, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on April 12, 1935, in Carbo, Sonora, Mexico, Maria dedicated her life to nurturing her family and uplifting those around her.

As a devoted mother, Maria expertly balanced the joys and challenges of raising her six children: Francisco Ramirez, Mary Jane Ramirez, Ramon Ramirez, Jr., Joaquin Ramirez, Melchor Eduardo Ramirez (Kena), Mark Anthony Ramirez (Claire) and Lygia Lanette Finney (Patrick). Her love for her children was boundless, and they were undoubtedly her proudest accomplishments. Maria’s children will forever carry her spirit within them, as they pass on her remarkable values of kindness, faith, and compassion.

Maria’s outgoing and friendly nature made her a valued presence in both her family and the wider community. She devoted many years volunteering at St. Augustine Cathedral Catholic Church, embodying the selflessness that defined her life. As a devout Catholic, her faith was a guiding light, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her earlier years, Maria delighted in dancing with her beloved husband, Ramon I. Ramirez, who preceded her in death. Their love story was one filled with joy and partnership, laying the groundwork for a family steeped in love and unity. Maria also found solace in the beauty of nature, tending to her plants and roses with a nurturing touch. Her love for music, particularly the vibrant sounds of Mariachis, especially Vicente Fernandez, brought her joy and often filled her home with laughter and celebration.

Maria’s legacy endures through her beloved grandchildren: Jessica, Genevive, Juan, Christopher, Edward Jr., Stephanie, Benjamin, Carolina, Simon, Cassandra, and Angelica, along with her great-grandchildren. She leaves behind two siblings, Juan Diego Castillo and Chito Castillo, as well as a wealth of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were touched by her generous spirit.

As we honor Maria Dolores Ramirez, we remember her as a woman who radiated love and warmth, a selfless soul who dedicated her life to the betterment of others. May her memory inspire us to embrace community, cherish our loved ones, and carry forth the virtues she held dear. Maria’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
