🕊️ In Loving Memory of Maria Dolores Alcoverde de Montañez 🕊️ Sunrise: March 31, 1939 — Sunset: June 18, 2025
With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Maria Dolores Alcoverde de Montañez, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the age of 86 in Tucson, Arizona.
Born in Nogales, Sonora, on March 31, 1939, to Jesus and Guadalupe Alcoverde, Dolores lived a life full of purpose, love, service, and unwavering faith. She was the devoted wife of the late Ramon Montañez, with whom she shared 64 beautiful years of marriage and built a life centered on family, community, and the teachings of Christ.
Dolores was a woman of many gifts. Known for her warm heart, gentle strength, and joyful spirit, she found happiness in the simple, sacred moments of life. She had a deep love for music and the arts—dancing Flamenco, baking traditional wedding cakes, sewing, songwriting, and playing the guitar brought her and others immense joy. Her creativity was matched by her love for learning—she took English and painting classes and proudly participated in N.A.B.E. (National Association for Bilingual Education), where she traveled and advocated for bilingual education.
She lived out her faith through action and devotion. A proud member of Santa Cruz Parish for over 30 years, she served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, participated in the Coro de la Comunidad Hispana, and volunteered at Casa Maria for two decades, serving meals and kindness to those in need.
Even in her later years, when her body grew tired, her spirit remained strong. She would sit quietly at home with her Bible in hand, praying the Rosary, her lips still forming the familiar hymns of praise. Her faith was not just a part of her life—it was her life, and it guided every decision, every word, and every act of love she extended to others.
She is survived by her children:
She also leaves behind a legacy through her 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, son-in-law Manuel Gallego and daughter-in-law Alejandra Montañedz who will carry forward her values of faith, family, and compassion.
Dolores is also survived by her loving siblings:
Along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know her and call her family.
✝️ Funeral Services:
🙏 A Final Prayer from Dolores to Her Family and Friends:
My beloved family and dear friends,
Do not weep for me, for I am with our Lord, singing the hymns I loved so dearly, wrapped in eternal light. Carry on with courage, keep the faith, and continue loving each other as God intended. Let your hearts be at peace, knowing I am at home now, praying for you as I always did.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and give you peace. Until we meet again—be strong, be kind, and never stop believing in the power of love and prayer.
Con todo mi amor, Mamá Dolores ✝️
