Maria Isela Delgado

Isela Delgado departed this life March 31, 2026. She was born in El Paso, Texas on February 13, 1934. She grew up in El Paso and graduated from Bowie High School. She moved to Tucson in 1957 after meeting her future husband Chester while he was stationed at Fort Bliss. 

Isela worked at St. John’s Elementary School as a secretary. She later worked as a counseling secretary at Amphi and Canyon Del Oro High Schools. Isela was an active MADD advocate after the death of her son Michael. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching sporting events of her beloved grandchildren and Arizona Wildcats. 

She is survived by her children, Pete, Joe (Clarissa), Tina Ernle (DJ); her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and her beloved dog Beau. She is preceded in death by her husband Chester; her youngest son Michael and his infant daughter Isabel, parents Indalecio and Justina Delgado and brothers Adalberto Delgado and John Zuniga. 

Her visitation will be on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. Sixth Avenue. Mass will be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Church, 1300 N. Greasewood on Tuesday, April 14th at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd.
