Magdalena Q. Simental

July 22, 1943 — May 29, 2025

Nogales

Magdalena Q. Simental, a spirited and loving matriarch, was born on July 22, 1943, and left this world on May 29, 2025. In her time among us, she became a radiant beacon of joy and strength, illuminating the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. With her passing, her family and friends are left to celebrate a life that was, in every sense, a heartfelt symphony of laughter, love, and unwavering faith.

Magdalena, affectionately known as Magda, danced through life with an exuberance that captivated all who entered her orbit. Her vivacious spirit was a source of light, leaving an indelible mark upon every gathering. Whether it was the playful glint in her eyes while singing and clapping for her beloved grandchildren, or the contagious laughter that filled the air, her very essence ignited joy in the hearts of those around her. In the sanctuary of her kitchen, she found rhythm even in the silence, twirling joyfully—her dance a testament to her zest for life, each step a reflection of her love woven into homemade meals that brought her family together.

Magdalena’s warmth and kindness resonated deeply within her family, as she became the heartbeat and guiding star for those she cherished. She was a loving and devoted wife of 59 years to Edmundo Simental Sr. and raised six respectable, hardworking and kind-hearted sons: Eduardo, Gerardo, Edmund, Oscar, Ernie and Daniel, along with her beloved daughter Noemi Ballesteros, each of them a testament to her strength, values, and devotion. Her enduring legacy of unconditional love is further adorned by her 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, a beautiful tapestry of family that showcases her nurturing spirit.

One of the heavier burdens Magda bore was the loss of her cherished son, Ernie. Her acceptance of this profound sorrow was matched only by her grace; she navigated the depths of grief with a strength that stemmed from deep faith. Rooted in her belief in God's unwavering presence, Magdalena became a beacon of encouragement for those around her. She taught her family that grief and grace coexist symbiotically, whispering the truth that through prayer and trust in God, one can find peace even amidst life's storms.

In her moments of solitude, Magdalena sought peace amid her garden, tending to her vibrant blooms with pride. Each blossom a testament to her nurturing spirit, mirroring the love she poured into her family. She found joy in simple pleasures, sipping coffee with friends, sharing laughter, and creating exquisite cakes that marked the milestones of her children’s lives.

Magdalena's life was a reflection of her faith, a woman of God's word who infused love into every interaction. Her energy was contagious, her laughter unforgettable, and her humor a cherished memory etched in the hearts of all. As we gather to celebrate her life, we are reminded of the enduring warmth of her sweet embrace and the courage she instilled in us during our darkest days.

Her journey has come full circle, and we remember her not with sorrow but with gratitude, cherishing the legacy left behind—a life lived boldly, lovingly, and faithfully.
