Loretta M. Garcia, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-granddaughter and matriarch, passed away on September 2, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on December 14, 1932, in Ruby, Arizona, and lived a long life marked by strength, love, and steadfast devotion to her family.
Loretta will be remembered as an outspoken woman who spoke her mind with honesty and conviction. She was loving but stern, the kind of person whose care was steady and whose presence brought both comfort and guidance. Those who knew her understood her to be a good person and someone very dependable, a woman her family could count on through the years.
She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Loretta enjoyed going to the casino, cheering on the Diamondbacks, and eating her sweet treats. These familiar joys, along with the love she gave so freely, will remain cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.
Above all, Loretta’s life was centered on family. She is survived by her children, Sally Garcia, Victor Garcia and his wife Monica, and Alice Long and her husband David. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Magdalena, Victor Jr., Melissa, David, Danielle, Gabriella, Adrian, Christopher, Ray, and Adrianna. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Angelo, Rayanne, Angelique, Jacob, Kendyll, Alexis, Ava, Milan, Alex, AJ, Lorenzo, Jolee, Raquel, Allie Mae, Nolan, Theo and her great-great-granddaughter, Milea. Each of them carries forward a part of her strength, her love, and the values she lived by.
Loretta was preceded in death by her father, Severo Mendoza; her mother, Angelita Mendoza; her husband, Arturo Rodriguez Garcia; and her son, Arturo Garcia Jr. Their memories remained part of her life and now are held close alongside her own.
Family and friends are invited to honor Loretta’s life at a Memorial Service on September 26, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Southlawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
Loretta M. Garcia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Her voice, her strength, her dependable nature, and the love she gave to her family will remain in their hearts always.
