Joshua Mariscal was first and foremost a son. He was such a loving kid growing up. He was very emotional and kind, always laughing and being goofy. He loved listening to music and playing soccer. He was a great soccer player and never missed any of his practices or games. As he got older, he started to enjoy playing basketball and made his high school team. He was so excited to play and learn but never got the opportunity to finish. Joshua was the main provider for my parents, always making sure to help out with the bills and rent. If he heard my parents say that they needed help he didn’t think twice before saying that he had it, that he got it, and not to worry.
He was a wonderful son and will forever be mommy and daddy’s baby. Joshua was also a brother, uncle and friend. He loved his siblings very much and always made sure they knew that. He always made sure that we felt loved and that we were okay. He was always checking up on us, coming to our rooms. He would lay on the bed on his phone or just talking. I’ve seen an heard that’s something all brothers do, an I want to say I took that for granted. There were times I kicked him out and told him not to come in or that he was being annoying, but I want to give a message to all the big sisters out there, don’t kick them out, don’t make them leave because they are being annoying or messing up your room. Don’t make them get out because they are asking you twenty one questions about something that’s none of their business. Just enjoy it. Nothing lasts forever.
Joshua was our little, big, brother and he was extremely loving and loved. He was so stubborn and moody. Once he had his mind set, it was set. But we all loved that about him. He was also always checking in with our cousins trying to make sure everyone’s day was going okay even if he was having a hard one himself. He spent some of his lasts weeks staying with our cousins just spending time with them and living life to the fullest. Anyone that knew Joshua knows that he was just too good for this earth, his heart was pure and his soul was kind. He was genuinely a good person with a big heart. He will forever be missed and loved. This is Joshua’s world, we’re just living in it.
