Jorge Alberto Borjas Calix, born May 21, 1962, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona.
Jorge will be remembered as a caring man, sometimes caring a little too much, whose warmth and generosity touched the people around him. He was fun, outgoing, responsible, stubborn, hardworking, ambitious, and selfless. His life was marked by tireless dedication, and he worked Monday through Sunday to provide, to build, and to help others. Those who knew him will remember the strength of his spirit and the way he gave so much of himself to the people he loved.
He found joy in spending time with family and treasured the moments shared with those closest to him. He also loved exploring the outdoors and camping, and he especially loved swimming. The ocean held a special place in his heart because he grew up near it, and that lifelong connection remained with him throughout the years.
Among the accomplishments that meant the most to Jorge were raising his two youngest sons to be the men they are today, purchasing his homes in the United States, and being able to help others whenever he could. He also built several homes in Honduras and owned over 400 acres of land there, achievements that reflected both his ambition and his deep connection to his roots.
Jorge is survived by his children, Jonathan, George, Carmen, Osman, Lupe, Rosa, Jorge, Jorge, Oscar, Jesus, and Gladis. He is also lovingly remembered by his many grandsons including, Jonathan Jr. Valencia and Jaxciel Reymundo Valencia, who is on the way. He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his brothers Luis Calix, Reynaldo Calix, Rolando Edgardo Calix, Juan Ramon Reyes, and Oscar Antonio Calix, and his sisters Alma Maria Calix, Maritza Calix, and El Sinora Calix. Each of them carries forward memories of his laughter, his determination, and the love he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dolores Reyes Borjas, and his mother, Francisca Calix Mendoza.
Family and friends are invited to honor Jorge’s life at a visitation on October 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713. Burial will follow on October 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
Jorge Alberto Borjas Calix will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his big heart, his unshakable work ethic, and the lasting love he leaves with his family.
