Tucson, AZ

John A. Garcia, a cherished figure in the hearts of all who knew him, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 83. Born on November 25, 1942, in Morenci, Arizona, he led a life filled with purpose and compassion that inspired many.

John dedicated much of his early career as an electrician, where his skill and meticulous nature earned him respect in his profession. However, it was his transition to teaching religious education that truly showcased his passion for guiding others. As a deacon of the Catholic Church for many years, he served as a spiritual support for countless individuals, embodying the values of kindness and patience that he so deeply believed in.

To those who had the privilege of knowing him, John was an extraordinary man with a vibrant personality. His humor was infectious; he had an amazing ability to lighten any atmosphere with a well-timed joke or whimsical story from his life. He loved to teach and share his knowledge, always eager to engage with others and make them laugh.

John's hobbies brought him joy and connection. Together with his beloved wife, Martha, who preceded him in death, he delighted in taking drives and exploring new places. After her passing, he found solace in spending time with his children and his grandchildren, embracing every moment spent with them. He held a love for his westerns, yet was also known as "MacGyver," always ready to lend a hand with a project or repair, showcasing his nurturing spirit.

His pride and joy stemmed from his family, as John often spoke of his three greatest accomplishments: his wife, Martha, their children, and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them held a special place in his heart, shaping the loving and supportive person he became over the years.

John is survived by his children, Louis and Kathy, and his son-in-law, Dennard. The legacy of his laughter and love continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert, Rick, Becky, and Grace, along with many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends who will forever remember his kindness and humor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, his daughter, Marie, and his parents, Macedonio and Lupe.
