With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Ines Cooper, who left this world on June 30, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on September 10, 1951, Ines’s journey began in Cananea, and her early years unfolded in Nogales, Sonora, surrounded by the warmth and traditions of family. More than fifty years ago, love and hope brought her across the border, where she built a new life in the United States—a life marked by hard work, creativity, and a rare and radiant spirit.

Ines devoted herself faithfully to her work, giving decades of service to her community. Around thirty of those years were spent at Kmart, and she later dedicated a decade to Autozone. Through these roles, she became a familiar and beloved face, never failing to shine wherever she went. Making friends came easily to Ines; her laughter, kindness, and gentle strength drew people in, and she was welcomed everywhere with affectionate embraces. She was truly unique—adored by all who knew her—and left a mark of joy in every place she graced.

Though Ines did not complete formal schooling, she illuminated the lives of her family and friends through her many talents. In her youth, she found joy in crafting beautiful cakes, perfecting her ability until she was entrusted with creating exquisite wedding cakes that became the centerpieces of joyful celebrations. Her artistic vision extended far beyond baking. She delighted in making bows for her granddaughters and filling her home with splendid holiday decorations and her own wonderful paintings. For Ines, creativity was an expression of love—each piece a quiet testament to the pride and devotion she felt for her family.

Travel, discovery, and new experiences were passions she embraced whenever she could. Even during life’s hardest challenges—including her brave battle with breast cancer and her later years living with dementia—Ines’s unique vitality endured. Her family cared for her with tenderness, finding comfort in preserving her passionate spirit, especially her love for fashion, which always made her feel radiant.

Ines leaves behind her beloved daughters, Lillian Cooper and Priscilla Cooper, who carry forward her legacy of resilience and warmth. Her adoration lives on in her grandchildren: Nicolette Cooper, Alexa Yañez, Camila Yañez, Abraham Jr. Yañez, and Abigael Duarte, as well as her great-granddaughter, Daleyza P. Ruiz. Though they mourn her loss, they are forever grateful for the years they spent sharing her wisdom and laughter.

She is now reunited with her treasured son, Richard Cooper, whom she lovingly called him her “Niño Precioso.” Ines’s family finds their deepest solace in the belief that mother and son are together again, wrapped in love.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Nogales, 891 W Mariposa Rd, Nogales, AZ. A Mass in honor of Ines’s life will follow at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 N Rodriguez St, Nogales, AZ.
