Gilberto "Gil" Lauro, Jr., a beloved husband, son, brother and friend, passed away on June 15, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on February 2, 1979, in Tucson, Gil led a life characterized by love, generosity, and an infectious sense of humor. He was a man who loved fiercely and gave selflessly, never visiting his parents empty-handed and always ready to lend a hand to those around him.
Gil was known for his warm spirit and quick wit, making friends with ease and winning the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His love for sports was evident in his enthusiasm for watching games and playing golf, cherishing moments rooting for his favorite teams, the University of Arizona Wildcats and the San Antonio Spurs. An avid cook who enjoyed barbecues, Gil’s gatherings were brightened by his laughter and storytelling.
One of Gil’s proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of his life, Veronica Lauro, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years together. Their story began as young teenagers, and throughout their life, he remained Veronica’s first love—a testament to their enduring bond.
Gil is survived by his cherished wife, Veronica Lauro; he loved as his own, Adilene Saum; his fur baby, CoCo; his loving parents, Gilberto and Rosa Lauro; and his siblings, Glerina White (Carl White), Joel Peralta (Ana Peralta), Veronica Ruiz (Jose Ruiz), Cesar Lauro (Claudia Ratcliffe), Rene Valles, Reyna Valles, and Lorena Valles. He also leaves behind his dear aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to carry forward his legacy of warmth and affection.
