Gary Scott Sarapa

September 14, 1971 — March 26, 2026

Gary Scott Sarapa was born in Morgantown, WV on September 14, 1971 to George Gary Sarapa and Linda Lee. Raised in Taylortown, PA, by his loving grandparents, Nannie JoAnne and Poppie George. Scott would spend his time with many cousins hunting, fishing, or riding dirt bikes. He graduated from Mapletown High School in 1989 and enlisted in the United States Army that same year.

Scott was a war veteran was active duty for 25 years serving tours in Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Stationed in many places: Germany, Fort Riley, Korea, Fort Lee, Fort Wainwright, Fort Bliss, and back to Fort Riley. Scott retired as Sargent First Class Sarapa in June of 2014.While he was active, he was a mechanic servicing light wheel vehicles.

Blissfully enjoying retirement; he filled his time with hiking, fishing, riding his motorcycle, camping, shooting, cooking, and cooking shows. Scott used his love of cooking and perfected the perfect carne asada. Throughout his life he enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguin’s hockey team and the Pittsburgh Steeler’s football team. In 2017, he married his wife, Johanna, Scott held a lot of pride serving as the American Legion Rider’s President for Ridge-Igo, post 23 in Santa Cruz County, his passion was riding with good ole friends all over his favorite places and grabbing a drink.

Survivors include his wife, Johanna, his children, Scott, Ashli, Christian, Cassidy, Martin, Fabian, Chace and Elijah, He was a good loving husband an amazing father a friend that with no doubt that if you needed him he would drop everything to go and help you.

Scott was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Clara Mae Hoover, grandparents JoAnne and George Sarapa, father George Gary Sarapa, brother Michael Steven Sarapa, and son Zethan Chance Sarapa.
