Frank G. Castaneda, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 78. Born on October 9, 1947, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, Frank brought his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit to every life he touched.

Frank was a devoted husband to Josie Vega. Their deep bond was evident to all who knew them; together for 54 years, they were truly inseparable. Their partnership was not only a testament to love but to mutual respect and enduring companionship.

He was a caring and supportive father to his children, Denise Tellez (Benny), Frank Castaneda (Michelle) and the late Michelle Caballero, Frank imparted to his family the values of hard work, kindness, and humility. His love for his children was unwavering, and he carried the memory of his late daughter, Michelle, close to his heart.

Frank’s legacy is further illuminated by the joy he took in being a grandfather to Briana (Estephan), Michael, Alexis (Josh), Adrian (Haley), Stephanie, Eliseo, Anissa (Manny), and Giselle. His pride extended to his great-grandchildren—Parker, Andy, Wesley, Santiago, Mateo, Camila, Stella, and Easton—each of whom will carry cherished memories of their beloved great-grandfather.

Family was central to Frank’s life, and he was a respected and loyal sibling to his brother Paul Castaneda and sisters Isabel Garcia, Irma Mendoza, and Hortencia Castaneda. He deeply valued his relationships with his late parents, Eliseo and Maria Santos, his late brother, Joe Castaneda, his late sister, Angie Gonzales, and his late grandson, Frank Anthony Castaneda.

Frank attended Sahuarita High School, where he developed many of the qualities that would define him: determination, a quiet sense of humor, and an easygoing nature. After high school, Frank served honorably in the Army—a point of pride for both him and his family—demonstrating his commitment to his country and community. He built a career and supported his family as a Heavy Equipment Operator. 

Those who knew Frank remember him as a hardworking man who found joy in simple pleasures. He was passionate about gardening, often tending to his plants and creating a place of beauty and calm. His love for classic cars was lifelong, and he could often be found working on them, his hands deftly coaxing life into vintage engines. Frank was endlessly inventive, always tinkering with ideas and projects in hopes of creating something new and useful.

Music and dancing brought Frank happiness, and his home was often filled with the sounds of his favorite songs. He delighted in sharing this love with family and friends, always ready to play music that would bring smiles and laughter.

While Frank was a quiet man, those close to him knew well his sharp wit and infectious humor. When he opened up, his stories and jokes brought the room to life. His easygoing personality put others at ease, making him a beloved friend and confidant.

Among all his endeavors, Frank’s greatest joy and accomplishment was his family. He took the greatest pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment and milestone in their lives.

The life of Frank G. Castaneda will be honored with services on August 1, 2026, at Martinez Funeral Chapels – Tucson, located at 2580 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a Rosary at 11:00 AM and Military Honors at 11:45 AM. Following these services, a reception will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Martinez North Chapel and Reception Hall, 2500 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ.

Frank’s memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life, defined by quiet strength, loving devotion, and lasting legacy, will be forever cherished and celebrated.
