Frank Alex Calixtro "Chino"

Jan 10, 1955 — Jul 14, 2026

Frank Alex Calixtro, affectionately known by so many as “Chino,” passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, in his hometown of Nogales, Arizona, surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born on January 10, 1955, in Nogales, Frank’s journey was one deeply rooted in family, tradition, and unwavering generosity. A legacy his loved ones will forever cherish.

Frank’s story began in the warmth of his parents, Francisco and Socorro Calixtro, whose memory he honored daily. He was shaped by the steady guidance of his grandparents, Alfonso and Francisco Bachelier, and Manuel and Francisca Calixtro, whose teachings about strength, humility, and devotion became the bedrock of his own life.

Chino’s greatest pride and purest joy was the beautiful family he built and treasured. Deeply devoted to his beloved wife, Yvette Braun - Calixtro, he was a partner whose support and affection never wavered. He was a father whose encouragement and wisdom illuminated the lives of his children; Greta, Eveke, and Chinito Calixtro. Each of them carries in their hearts the lessons, laughter, and love he so freely gave, he deeply loved his pets Pepe, Chipis, Sansa, Bosco, Nova and Eisenhower (Poopsy).

Frank’s circle of love radiated outward to his siblings and extended family. Among those left to hold his memory close are his brother Jose Luis (Chama), Lucy, Monica, Ricardo (Charangas), Chale, and Roberto (Nopalitos), all of whom he embraced as brothers and confidants. Their stories and bonds were woven with joy, occasional mischief, and a steadfast sense of loyalty—a tapestry made all the more valuable by the shared experiences they will now carry forward in his honor.

The passage of time brought the pain of loss, as Frank bid farewell to his cherished parents and grandparents, as well as his brothers Rene (Perico) Calixtro, whose absences he felt deeply. Yet, their spirits were never far from him and brought him comfort and strength in quiet moments, He also experienced the loss of his beloved pets Bosco, Harley.

To all who knew him, Frank was more than just a familiar face; he was a source of wisdom, an embodiment of kindness, and a constant presence in both celebration and hardship. His friends and those fortunate enough to cross his path will remember his laughter, his stories, and his capacity for compassion.

Services to honor Frank’s extraordinary life will begin with a visitation on July 17, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 N Rodriguez St, Nogales, AZ. A Mass will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the same sacred space. Frank will then be laid to rest at the City of Nogales Cemetery, 253 W Kino St, Nogales, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. In tribute to a life so thoroughly well-lived, a Celebration of Life will take place from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Calixtro Distributing Co, 42 Kipper St, Rio Rico, AZ—a gathering certain to be filled with all the memories, laughter, and heartfelt stories that shaped Frank’s years among us.

Though the world feels dimmer without his smile, Frank’s spirit prevails through the family traditions he upheld, the friendships he nurtured, and the love that remains ever-present among those he has left behind. With sorrow for his loss but gratitude for his life, we say goodbye to Frank Alex Calixtro, “Chino”—a husband, father, brother, and friend whose light will never fade from our hearts.
