Tucson, AZ

Fatima Araceli Arroyo, a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and beloved friend, left this world peacefully on January 27, 2026, in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Born on November 7, 1972, Fatima radiated a joyful spirit whose laughter had the power to brighten any room.

A proud graduate of Pueblo High School, Fatima devoted 28 years of her life to serving others as a Supervisor for the Division of Developmental Disabilities with the State of Arizona. Her unwavering passion for advocating for those with disabilities showcased her profound commitment to uplifting the lives of others, marking a career filled with compassion and dedication to ensuring that everyone received the support they deserved.

Fatima was known for her strong will and independent nature, qualities that endeared her to countless friends and family members. A true social butterfly, she was the heart of every gathering, her joyful laugh echoing in the minds of those she loved. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Fatima was the solid rock of her family, offering unconditional love and guidance to her beloved children: Lizette Denise Varela, Adrian Varela, and Seth Avian Arroyo. Her greatest pride and joy came from her grandchildren, Avian and Aveya Varela, whose presence filled her life with immeasurable happiness.

In her leisure time, Fatima found great joy in traveling to the beach, especially to Rocky Point, where the sun and sand offered her peace and tranquility. She loved to dance to Spanish music, embracing the rhythm that brought her so much joy and energy. Her enthusiasm for shopping highlighted her zest for life, and she treasured the special moments shared during lunch dates with her children, nurturing the bonds that held them together.

Fatima's legacy extends generously among her loved ones. She is survived by her mother, Maria Valenzuela "Nelly," and siblings Andres Valenzuela (Gabriela) and Sylvia Estrada. She held the honor of being a godmother to Amber Otero, Trevon Smith, Ileana Hurtado, and Josiah Hurtado—each of whom added immeasurable love to her life. Additionally, countless nieces, nephews, and friends will remember her for her warmth, kindness, and infectious positivity.

Fatima Araceli Arroyo's spirit will continue to shine through her family, her compassion, and her remarkable strength. Though she will be deeply missed, she will be lovingly remembered for the profound impact she made on the lives of all who were fortunate to know her.

There will be a celebration of her life in the near future and will be shared here.
