Ernest Charles Vega, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on June 17, 1940, in Tucson, Arizona, Ernest dedicated many years of his life to his career as an iron worker with Local 75, where he earned the respect of his peers and contributed significantly to the area’s development.
He was known for his private and reserved nature, yet beneath this quiet demeanor lay a profound appreciation for life. With a passion for the outdoors, Ernest found joy in gardening and had a special affinity for animals, particularly horses, which spoke to his nurturing spirit.
Ernest is survived by his children: Ernie, Gilbert, Kimberly, Jackie, Irma, and Paul. He cherished his role as a grandfather to a large family of grandchildren, including Andrea, Ernie, Kristin, Vanessa, Gilbert Jr., Angelina, Paul, Thomas, Jose, Javier, Christopher, Michelle, Eileen, Gabriel, Gilbert, Ryan, Paul Jr., Victoria, and Andrew, along with many great-grandchildren. His legacy continues through the love and memories shared with each of them.
He is also survived by his siblings, Rick and Terry Vega, Isabel and Arnold Vega, and Pat and Hector Figueroa, who valued the memories and moments shared throughout their lives.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Frances Vega, and his sister, Carmen Pedroza, who were an integral part of his life and instilled in him the values that he carried throughout his years.
As we honor Ernest Charles Vega’s life, we remember a man who was not only devoted to his work and family but who also valued the simple joys of life. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. There will be a private family service.
