Ernest Adam Torres, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and friend, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with health issues. Born on December 2, 1954, in Roswell, New Mexico, Ernest lived a life defined by love, service, resilience, faith, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Ernest was the cherished son of the late Ernest and Ramona Torres. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Eva and Lisa (Juan); his brothers, Robert (Belen), Chris, and Jesus; his brother-in-law, Pete Nogales Sr.; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Oscar Jr., Christopher Jr., Jasmine, and Alina.

He is survived by his children, Ernest Jr. (Rosita) and Mark Anthony; his adopted daughters, Mercedes and Elizabeth; his siblings, Dolores and Oscar (Debbie); his treasured grandchildren, Camila, Ernest Jr., and Nicole; and only great-grandchild Ernest III; and by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and godchildren.

A proud graduate of Cholla High School, Class of 1974, Ernest found his calling in the world of mechanics. His career was far more than a profession—it was a passion and a gift he gladly shared with others. He was always willing to help family and friends with their mechanical needs, patiently sharing his knowledge, experience, and talents. For Ernest, helping someone was never a burden; it was simply who he was.

Ernest was also a devoted member of his Catholic community. His faith became an important part of his life from an early age, beginning when he served as an altar boy at just 10 years old. He continued to attend Mass faithfully throughout his life, finding comfort, strength, and purpose in his relationship with God.

A die-hard New England Patriots fan, Ernest looked forward to football Sundays, especially when they gave him an opportunity to gather with family and cheer for his favorite team. He loved barbecues, dinners, laughter, and simply being surrounded by the people he cared about. Known for his kindness, generosity, and thoughtful gifts, Ernest had a heart as big as his smile.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the University of Arizona Cancer Center for their extraordinary care and for helping Ernest become a cancer survivor. One of the most joyful moments of his life was the day he rang the bell after beating cancer—a moment that captured his strength, perseverance, and gratitude, as his radiant smile filled the room. Special thanks are also extended to Banner Main Campus for their continued efforts, compassion, and care.

Ernest's greatest legacy was not found in the things he owned or the work he completed, but in the lives he touched. He left pieces of himself in every person he helped, every lesson he taught, every problem he solved, every meal he shared, and every moment he spent with his family. His hands may have been those of a mechanic, but they were also hands that helped, provided, built, repaired, and cared for others.

The knowledge Ernest shared will continue through those he taught. The kindness he showed will continue through those who remember him. The love he gave his children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends will continue through generations to come. In this way, Ernest's life does not simply end—it continues in the people he loved and in the memories they will carry with them.

His family will remember his smile, his humor, his generosity, his faith, his love of football, and especially his willingness to always lend a helping hand. Long after the sound of his voice has faded, the lessons he taught and the love he gave will remain.

A service to honor and celebrate Ernest's life will be held on September 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the Rosary recited at 3:00 PM, at Martinez Funeral Home, 2580 S. 6th Avenue.

Ernest Adam Torres will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on—in his children, his grandchildren, his family, his friends, and in every life he touched. He gave much of himself to others, and the love, strength, and memories he left behind will remain a part of them forever.
