It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Michael Gonzales, a beloved member of his family, who left this world on June 16, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 74. Born on September 11, 1950, in Florence, Arizona, Edward lived a life marked by warmth, love, and a sense of humor that brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.
Edward served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that he carried with pride throughout his life. His time in the military shaped much of his character, instilling in him a sense of duty and commitment that he later exemplified in his interactions with family and friends.
Edward was known for his loving demeanor and easy-going nature. He was a reserved individual who relished the simple pleasures of life, often enjoying moments spent with loved ones. He was deeply committed to his faith and continually sought to better himself and those around him. Edward had a passion for dancing and found immense joy in the company of his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Conrad Gonzales, Veronica Leon, and Art Leon; his children, Amelia Gonzalez, Frances Fuentes, and Eddie Michael Gonzales, Jr.; his uncle, Alex Leon; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; aunt, Gloria Gonzales; stepbrothers, Conrad, Javier and Rafael; stepsister, Blanca; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Conrad Gonzales; mother, Bertha Leon; stepfather, Arthur Leon; siblings, George Gonzales, Mark Foust and Rosalinda Leon; aunt Mary Ellen Leon and grandmother, Amelia Torres.
A graveside service to honor Edward's memory will be held on August 5, 2025, at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Marana, located at 15950 N Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653, starting at 12:00 PM. It is a time for family and friends to come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who made an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edward Michael Gonzales will be remembered not only for his loving spirit but also for the faith and kindness he shared with others. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
