Donna Corine Allen was born in 1942 in Unionville, Missouri to Zora and Ruth Allen. She was the third of 8 children. One sister died as a baby and one brother died at 5 years old. So she grew up 3rd of 6 (3 girls and 3 boys) on a farm in Iowa. On May 14, 1961, she married the next door neighbor whom she had known since 3rd grade, Grant Ewing.
In 1973, Donna and Grant moved to Rio Rico, a town that had only 250 people at that time. Grant got a job in Anamax copper mine and Donna stayed home with their 2 children, Cindy and Steve. After the kids were older, Donna went back to school and got a degree in accounting. She worked for Chamberlain Garage doors, and then for Southeast Behavior Health systems in their accounting departments. After retiring from her accounting jobs, she went back to work in her 70’s as a 5th grade school teacher with Sunshine Christian school.
Donna gave her heart to her Lord and Savior, when she was a teenager in a Methodist church in Cincinnati Iowa. After moving to Arizona, she was instrumental in the founding of First Baptist Church of Rio Rico where she served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader, piano player, and even volunteered as part-time janitor.
Donna has also been heavily involved in the work of the Lord here a First Baptist church of Nogales, serving as its treasurer, as well as Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader, singing in worship, serving on the Pastoral search team and spending many many hours in prayer. She was known for her hospitality and willingness to help whenever and wherever needed.
On April 13, 2026. Donna left this world to take up residence in her forever heavenly home with her Savior whom she loved and followed most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (William and Larry Allen), 3 sisters (Sharon Allen, Joan Ervin, & Joye Ritter), her husband (Grant Ewing), and 3 brothers-in-law (Gerald Ewing, Jay Smith, & Albert Ervin). She is survived by 2 brothers, 5 sisters-in-law, her children & their spouses (Steven & Pamela Ewing, and Cynthia & David Johnson), 6 grandchildren (Abigail & Emily Johnson, Andrew & Luke Ewing, Rachel (Brad) Brickson, & Bethanny (Miguel) Camacho), and 5 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
