In Loving Memory of Bertha Marie Piery “Jazzey”

Bertha Marie Piery, lovingly known as “Jazzey,” was born on September 15, 1961, in Tucson' AZ. She lived a life centered around family, friendship, and helping others, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Bertha was the youngest of eight children and carried a joyful spirit that brought people together. She graduated from Tucson High School — proudly cheering “Go Badgers!” — and dedicated much of her life to caring for and supporting others.

She is survived by her children, John and Anner; and her beloved grandchildren, Ava, Amari, and Rayya; and her life partner Dwayne. They brought immense joy to her life. Bertha treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, whether sharing stories, laughter, music, food or simply being together.

Bertha loved spending time with family and looked forward to every family gathering. She enjoyed playing BINGO, listening to music, and sharing countless memories over card games with loved ones. She made every moment fun and unforgettable.

She deeply loved all her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews and valued the closeness of family above all else. Bertha had a special gift for connecting with people. No matter where she went, she seemed to know someone, and if she didn’t, she quickly made a new friend. Her warm heart and welcoming personality left lasting impressions everywhere she went.

Bertha was a loving daughter, sister, mother, Tia, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, laughter, and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain.

We love you, Jazzey, and you will never be forgotten. May 19th 2026
