Apolino G. Morales, affectionately known as "Sonny," passed away on June 15, 2026, in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Born on April 23, 1934, in Tucson, Sonny lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering passion for both his family and his craft.

A proud Tucson High School graduate, Apolino furthered his education at the University of Arizona, where he pursued studies in architecture for a couple of years. His academic inclination complemented his natural talents and interests, ultimately leading him to a fulfilling career as a self-employed general contractor. Among his proudest accomplishments were flying a plane during his service as a pilot in the United States Air Force and successfully establishing his own construction business, endeavors that he cherished deeply.

Sonny was much more than a professional; he was a delightful conversationalist and historian who had an exceptional ability to engage those around him. His ever-present smile was contagious, a trait that endeared him to everyone he met. Known for his sociability, he never encountered a stranger. In his leisure time, he indulged in drafting, a pastime that reflected his artistic and architectural passion. He also found joy in frequent trips to Las Vegas, where he was often treated with first-class hospitality, and cherished visits to Disneyland.

Family was the cornerstone of Sonny’s life. He was married to his beloved wife, Margie L. Morales, for over 50 years until her passing. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie, his parents Apolino and Mary Morales, their children Kenny Morales and Sharon Morales, and his grandson Bobby Lopez.

He leaves behind a large, loving family who will carry forward his legacy. His children—Michael Morales, Cindy Morales, Danny Morales, and Nicky Morales—along with his grandchildren Evette Lopez, Lino Lopez, Lisa Orozco, DJ Morales, Vincent John Morales, Jennifer Futch, Laura Futch, Nicky Morales, Sonny Morales, Michelle Morales, Caesar Lespron, Roman Lespron, Alex Lindsay, and Melanie Morales—survive him. He is also remembered fondly by many great-great-grandchildren, his sister Olga Terriquez, and his brother Roland Morales.

Apolino G. Morales "Sonny" will be remembered not only for his professional achievements and service to his country but, most importantly, for the laughter, love, and light he brought into the lives of all who knew him. His legacy is one of a man who cherished family, embraced life fully, and made an indelible impression on the community and the hearts of those around him.
