Adelina Castañeda, born on December 19, 1938, in Zaric Sonora, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2026, in Rio Rico. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
Adelina was a devoted mother who loved her daughters unconditionally. Her life's joy was rooted deeply in her family—her daughters Lupita (Jose Manuel) Yañez, Margarita (Jorge Arturo) Hernandez, Irma (Jorge) Velez, Alma Rosa (Omar) Neira, and Moni (Thomas Lee) Vader, who carry forward her spirit and values; her beloved grandchildren Ivan, Jorge Edgardo, Masielle, Michelle, Cassandra, Anthony, Leslie, Martin, Marcel, and Mateo; and her treasured great-grandchildren Eavanny, Jesusito, Ivancito, Izac, Ivory, Nathaniel, Amariz, Rex, Greyson, Melanie Kamilah, Maya, and Wyatt and all of her sisters, nephews and nieces, They were the center of her world and the embodiment of her proudest accomplishments: her unwavering dedication to her family.
Adelina's personality was warm and vibrant—she was known for her heartfelt cooking, especially during the much-loved tamal gatherings that brought the family together, a testament to her nurturing soul and passion for tradition. Her love for singing added melody and joy to every family gathering. A prayer warrior at heart, her faith guided her through life’s seasons, offering comfort and strength not just to herself but to those around her.
Her family and friends remember her as a pillar of strength and kindness, a woman whose home was always open and whose heart was full of love.
Adelina was preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto Ignacio Castañeda, her beloved son, Francisco Castañeda, her grandson Luis Manuel Cuevas. Though their absence is deeply felt, their memory lives on within the family she so lovingly built.
The family will honor Adelina’s life with a series of services to celebrate her memory and the light she brought into their lives. On May 22, 2026, a visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales, Arizona, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a rosary at 12:00 p.m. Later that afternoon, a Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales, beginning at 2:00 p.m., allowing family and friends to come together in love, prayer, and remembrance.
Adelina Castañeda’s life was marked by the beauty of family, faith, and a generous heart. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who loved her and all who knew her, reminding us that true strength is found in love and devotion. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, forever a guiding light to her loved ones.
